Chui). I was out at the time of the collapse. I do not know what
caused the collapse. I had no reason to suspect the house would
collapse. I saw no cracks in the wall. I never heard anybody say
there were cracks there.
Wong On ming declared and examined. I am a widow. At the time of
the collapse I was the principal tenant of the ground floor of 9
Station Street. I have been there o or 9 years. I nad 12 adults
and 10 children tenants of this place. This included myself. About a month before the collapse a Sanitary Inspector who was there cleaning the floor called my attention to a crack in the wall. The
crack ran horizontal and was a few inches below the lst. floor. The
crack was one-tenth of an inch wide. The Inspector gave me a note
which I handed to the rent collector Au Yeung Chui. Then workmen
crane and filled up the cracks. Inspector Fincher was the Inspector
who nanded me the letter. I was on the ground floor when I saw the
crack. The crack was the length of a cubicle. I did not see cracks
anywhere else. I did not see any other cracks. None of the tenants
on the lst. floor said anytning about cracks in the lst. floor. I
do not know how many tenants were on the 2nd. floor. I was on the
ground floor when the house collapsed. I was pinned under the floor,

Lau Pat declared and exmined. I am widow and principal tenant of
1st. floor of No. 9 Station Street. I was nearly killed by the
collapse. After you got to the 1st. floor there was a landing. 2
of the square tiles on the landing were broken. I saw no crack in
the wall. I heard from the tenants there was a crack. There were 23
people including lo children. I do not know how many people lived
on the 2nd. floor. There were children on this floor.
No question by the jury.
Wong Fun recalled. My sister Wong Hi lived and was principal tenant
of No. 2 floor of No. 9. I visited her. She was injured in the col-
-lapse. After the collapse my sister told me there were 3 or 4
